John Leguizamo’s Ghetto Klown

John Leguizamo’s Ghetto Klown- The title gives nothing away to one of the funniest, realist, journeys many of us experience at some point in our life.

Doing what he knows best, John Leguizamo takes the audience on a journey through his career and struggles. From his 1st acting teacher, “Ms. Tweety” to John’s unstable relationship with his father, to finally realizing his father made him the man he is today (self-aware).  All of life’s realizations made John acknowledge that theatre is where he needed to be, “his therapy”.

At times we are not sure of who we are or where we are heading but always aware there is much more out there. John finds his call in theater; being able to express himself, release all his feelings and emotions without judgment.  Ghetto Klown is an array of laughter, gaps and possibly a few tears.

Follow your dreams, go all out, learn who you are; we hear it and see it all the time but coming from John it means much more.  A man whose life and career, began in New York City, becomes a greater inspiration to all New Yorkers and Latinos.  Seeing that even at the highest point in his career, he was miserable within.  Shows the audience how human we all are…
