The Evolution Of Man: Eye For An Eye

How much have human beings evolved?  Consider the following statements, “eye for an eye (a person who has injured another person returns the offending action to the originator in compensation)” which I am sure everyone has heard at some point in their lives. Have you ever taken the time to consider the basis of those words, to actually consider the power behind the verse?  When taken literally humans have used these statements to justify injustices within society.  Retributive justice is based on these believes (let the punishment fit the crime).  Countries have gone to war on these premises.

We as human beings have an ability that other primitive mammals do not, the ability to rationalize.  The true nature of man is the ability to forgive, only then will civilization mature, when humanity becomes more humane and understands ones social responsibility to one another; or revert to the traditional principles of ethics.

By no means am I the most ethical or moralist person and I never claim to be, but as you grow older you become wiser (as they say) and realize things you should have seen for years.  The point is don’t open your eyes and mind when it’s too late or when someone tells you, take time to reflect on life, grow as an individual; mentally, emotionally, morally, ethically…
